About the Journal

Academy Journal of Multidisciplinary Doctoral Research (AJMDR) is a multidisciplinary journal published by the School of Postgraduate Studies, Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) Kaduna through the Research Methodology Office. The AJMDR is currently accepting manuscripts for its second edition aiming to serve as a platform for disseminating research progress across the arts, engineering, humanities, sciences and any other discipline.

The Journal intends to focus on the promotion of scholarship and dissemination of knowledge. Every paper intended for publication in the Journal is required to show convincing evidence of scholarship and to make some definite academic contribution to knowledge and development in the academic field and disciplines of the journal’s interest. Short communications, work in progress, technical or design notes, and book reviews are also acceptable for publication in the journal.

The journal welcomes articles from completed and ongoing doctoral research students of NDA School of Postgraduate Studies. Other well-researched articles outside the School of Postgraduate Studies are also highly welcomed.

Factors   to   Consider   Before   Submission

  • Authorship: Authorship should be limited to only individual(s) that contributed tangibly to the entire execution and interpretation of the study.
  • Authenticity and Plagiarism: Authors should ensure that the written work is entirely original, and if any part of the work is obtained from another source, it should be properly cited and referenced.
  • Data Sharing: Authors are to provide a detailed account of how data was obtained or generated, and implemented in order to be scrutinized by the editorial board before publishing. In the case of data acquired from an organization or institution, the contact information of a representative of the organization should be gotten, so as to confirm that data was obtained from the given institution or organization. Subject eligibility, exclusion criteria, statement of compliance and also details of informed consent should be provided by the authors before publishing.

It is pertinent to note that the requirement for data sharing is strictly based on the need for proper scrutiny and also possible replication by other authors.

  • Multiple Publications: Multiple works on the same study are allowed but should constitute different topics.
  • Review Process: The review process will include:
  1. Plagiarism and grammar check in line with global standard
  2. Preliminary Editorial Consideration to ascertain that the submission is publishable
  • Three blind reviews by specialist in the field of submitted manuscript
  1. Correction based on reviewers’ comments
  2. Further processing and production of galley

In some cases, there may be rejection or resubmission of a particular manuscript based on flaws identified by the review board and editors. Rejected manuscripts will not be published, but may only be considered for resubmission if the editorial and review board have given the necessary feedback regarding the work, and suggestions are made for further development of the manuscript.

  • Author Services and Pre-Submission Support: For easy follow up on the publication of a particular article, authors are sent a link to constantly check and track the status of their submitted articles at different stages of production. Also, for pre-submission support, authors whom English is a second language could have their manuscripts professionally edited by the editors. The editors will help in grammar formation and translation in the manuscript. It should be noted that this support is to be paid for by the authors at standard editorial rate. This service does not guarantee the acceptance or preference of the manuscript after editing.
  • Publishing: A manuscript can only be published if it hasn’t been published elsewhere, or under consideration by another journal.
  • Reference Style: APA style 7th
  • Number of Submissions within a Year: A contributor is not allowed to submit more than two works in a year.
  • Retraction of Manuscript and Refund of Publication Fee: Contributors can only withdraw manuscript if it has not been sent for review.
  • Focus of the Journal: Empirical and literary research from preferably 80% doctoral degree students and 20% from other professionals.
  • Duration of Publication Process: Three to four months.
  • Duration Of Review and Editing Process:

Review Board: 4 weeks

Editorial Board: 2 weeks

Chief Editor: 2 weeks

If for any reason there is a complaint from the author at any point, it should be directed to the editorial board ( ajmdr@nda.edu.ng ), which will be looked into with utmost priority and diligence.

The openness of the journal to different disciplines encourages authors to make their written works accessible, relatable, and easily readable and understandable to a wide range of readers.
